G-Farm is an integrated software and hardware solution for precision agriculture which is strongly positioned to work with the next generation of smart farming technology.

Remote Global Access to Critical Farm Data in Real Time

IDS G-Farm uses a range of sensors including GFarm Animal Tracker, gate sensors and weather sensors to collect data in real time on an IoT farm network enabling the farmer to manage their farm from one software platform via the GFarm Management Console. This environment enables the farmer to have global access and map-based visibility of livestock, water availability, gates/fences, buildings and other assets on their property using smart phones, tablets and computers. Whilst having the capability to provide remote global access to critical farm data, the highest levels of information technology privacy and security are employed to protect farm data and sensor information.

Receive Alerts for Assets, livestock, pasture and more

The system is capable of sending live alerts to the farmer on the status of livestock, stock water level supply, paddock gate security access, severe weather events and property security. It also provides reports and summaries, as well as recording tracking and health of individual livestock for display on the mapping interface. Remotely sensed multispectral pasture growth and paddock feed information from satellite or UAV can also be obtained and integrated with livestock tracking information in the GFarm Map Display.

Having the full visibility of livestock health and behaviour on the G-Farm Mapping Display along with other complimentary datasets such as pasture growth feed information allows the farmer to better plan livestock paddock movement and better retainment of overall pasture health. Being able to remotely view the status of livestock, water supply, paddock gate access and property security also allows the farmer more freedom to efficiently manage and control the property both remotely and directly their farm hands to provide more peace of mind even when travelling on holiday or business. GMap has secure multi user access to allow farm owners, managers and staff to concurrently access, use and remotely collaborate about the working status of the farm.

Placed on the animal, the GFarm Animal tags monitor the animals 24-7 keeping you up to date on individual animal health. Asset Management and Security

Water

By means of a third-party integrated IoT sensors, water levels can be monitored, and the flow rates regulated. The sensors are able to open and close paddock water supplies so that the farmer is able to encourage the livestock to move from one trough to another between different paddocks.

Gates and Fences

Geofencing fences are drawn onto the system. This will allow the farmer to regulate his livestock in areas. Gates are operated by sensors, which the farmer is able to open and close remotely with his smart device. The system also provides alerts to when gates are opened without authorisation (left open or intrusion).

Vehicles

The vehicles are fitted with sensors which are able to track the whereabouts of the vehicle and to alert the farmer in the event of any accidents or breakdowns. It is also able to report and alert on the areas that the vehicle has travelled in the event of soil contamination.

Buildings

The G-Farms system is able to assist with the farmer with smoke and fire alarms as well as intruder alerts.

UAV and Video Asset Monitoring

UAV and fixed video live feed capture can also be used for asset inspection, management and security purposes.

Pasture and Crop Solutions

G-Farm smart farmers are able to estimate the level of pasture grazing to avoid overgrazing by using animal tracking information from the smart tag where frequency and intensity of livestock grazing patterns can be used to estimate levels of paddock grazing. This grazing information can then be used to manage and move the livestock when needed by opening the paddock gates and rotating the livestock into adjoining paddocks. The farmer will also be able to establish the amount of feed required by each animal, balance pasture biomass and manage stock numbers to allow the best sustainable stocking rates.

This approach can easily be coupled with pasture growth and paddock feed information gathered from satellite or UAV remote sensing data plus locally gathered weather information for best pasture management practices.

For crop management the system can also integrate with weather, moisture, evaporation, UV and soil sensor monitoring sensors to assist with understand crop growth status.

When G-Farm Animal information is coupled with multispectral remote sensing data, as clear picture of the before and after grazing, pasture stress can also be viewed and analysed.

Biosecurity Protection

The G-Farm system is able to assist the farmer to establish an on-farm biosecurity plan to help protect his livelihood from the threats posed by diseases, pests and weeds. The farmer can track the exact whereabouts of his livestock, which enables him to separate animals that are unwell from the rest of the herd.

Using multispectral remote sensing data capture by UAV, pests and weed can be detected and managed. Potentially UAV can also be used also control and eradicate pests and weeds. For example, selective weed spraying can be completed by UAV in environmentally sensitive areas with tight safety buffer zones where manned aircraft are not able to access.

With G-Farm monitoring and reporting abilities, the farmer is able to manage soil contamination and weed control/eradication.

GFarm Management Console

The IDS online GFarm Management Console provides many simple to use features from a range technology. Firstly, the primary access to property, sensor and farm data is through visualisation via smart farm maps. The smartness behind the maps is completed using GIS and Machine Learning technology. Whilst strong capability is provided by these smart technologies the complexity of applying the farming business rules and sending alerts is managed and presented a simple manner ensuring farmers do not need to be IoT sensor, GIS and database experts to operate the system. This combined with IDS service and support ensures the farmers are spending their valuable time profitably farming, not being technology experts.

GFarm IoT Sensors

GFarm has both its own sensors including the GFarm Animal Tracker or can be adapted to integrate with a range of sensors.
The GFarm Animal Tracker includes a GPS sensor and motion sensors (similar to UAV movement sensors) for tracking of animals. Information is transmitted using a Local Wide Area Network (LWAN) to communicate back to the GFarm Management Console for map display and ongoing analysis.
